JAJA – Inspired by street food

In the spring of 2019, JAJA bar and restaurant opened in Bergen city, in Norway. The location is based in a more urban part of the city, with a wide range of ethnicity among residents. We based our target audience on people in the neighborhood (41,000 people live in the district, of which about 26% are immigrants), visiting tourists and generally happy locals in Bergen.

Our collaboration with JAJA started early on, developing the concept, name and visual identity. Our goal was to create a place that truly embraced all the different target groups and their backgrounds. We wanted to create a community, a place where everyone could feel a bit like home, whilst also enabling people to explore and gain new experiences.

The visual expression takes inspiration from markets, people and food culture from all over the world and brings it all together, forming this unique and slightly eccentric universe. The restaurant breaks boundaries by mixing traditions from different cultures. The visual identity mirrors this.
